If anyone was ready to say goodbye to 2013 and start a new year, it was me. Last year proved to have its triumphs and challenges. The biggest impact on my life was losing my mom to cancer. Today marks five months since she passed and it is still a surreal experience to not have her around. I needed a little extra time to recover from last year, which is why I’ve been MIA. It’s taken me over a month just to write this blog post. My mom was the most supportive person when it came to be starting this blog and my biggest creative influence. She was a little firecracker and the strongest person I knew, and would kick my ass if I didn’t keep doing what I love. So, here I am back to writing, designing, creating, moving forward…
Each year I make big resolutions (like learn a new language), then life gets the best of me and I don’t accomplish most of them. At the end of the year, I feel overwhelmed and disappointed because I didn’t complete everything. I’ve decided to break it down and pick just one simple thing each week to accomplish. Instead of trying to tackle the huge tasks like learning an entire new language, maybe it’s just learning a new word each week. I truly believe it’s the little things that add up to make everything whole.
Follow me on twitter and I will let you know what my goal is each week. Did you figure out this week’s goal? Yep, it was to get this blog post up. I promise there is a bunch new content coming your way soon!
This week’s IP is all about choosing your happiness. You own it and how you react to things ultimately determines the outcome. So, take a breath and gracefully tackle each thing as it comes.
xoxo,
Jenn
I’m reading this post a little bit late. I found your blog through @ashleytia on Instagram. I’m so very sorry to hear about your mom. I love how you wrote that she’d kick your ass if you weren’t doing what you love. That is a great push to stay on the inspiring and true path you’re on, and I’m thankful to have discovered your blog!
Thank you Linnea for the sweet note! I hope you enjoy the blog and that I can deliver content that you all want to see!
