Monday IP {Inspirational Post}

Sometimes we all need an extra reminder on how to get through the day, especially on a Monday morning. So I’ve decided each Monday I’m going to do an “IP” (Inspirational Post). In the Tech world “IP” is know as your Internet Protocol Address and its role has been characterized as the following:  A name indicates what we seek. An address indicates where it is. A route indicates how to get there. I think this translates into describing inspirational posts just as well.

Los Angeles: 30th Birthday Recap

Last Sunday I turned the big 3-0! I headed to Los Angeles where I got to celebrate the last days in my twenties with amazing friends and great food. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Oh, and did I mention we went to the Justin Timberlake/Jay-Z Legends of the Summer tour at the Rose Bowl!?! Best. Birthday. Ever.

I’m in LA a few times a year and this trip we hit all new spots to eat and drink. I wanted to share with you all where we went cause there was no complaints about anything! I would go back to anyone of these places in a heartbeat. What are you favorite spots to eat and play at in LA?Los Angeles July 2013

The Village: Chill little spot in Studio City where you are sure to spot a celebrity (we did before we even sat down at our table).

  • Eats: Black Mussels, La Loggia Chopped Salad, Crispy Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts, Cheese Platter
  • Toddies: The Spicy Native, Blacklisted Basil

Blu Jam Cafe: The portions are big, so you could definitely share a dish. I was so full but just kept eating because it is so good.

  • Eats: Chilaquiles, Migas, Spicy Tex Mex Hash, Blueberry Pancakes
  • Toddies: Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice, Kamil’s favorite juice combo (carrot, beet, celery & ginger)

Cleo: If you want a real LA/Hollywood vibe this place will provide it but without the pretentious attitude.

  • Eats: Lebaneh with Feta, Hummus, Spicy Potatoes, Brussel Sprouts (must have!), Pork Belly Kebabs, Falafel, Grilled Octopus
  • Toddies: Mediterranean Margarita, Clementina, Lotus Flower

Sassafras: We headed here after dinner at Cleo. Sassafras makes you feel like you are in a prohibition bar in the south rather than in downtown LA. There is a laundry list of whiskey to pick from and the live music is a can’t miss.

  • Toddies: Cucumber Smash

Eveleigh: Hands down my favorite place of the weekend! Loved the decor and the views of LA from the outdoor deck (and the waiters were easy on the eyes too!!). They were super accommodating to my gluten allergy and the substitute dishes were delicious! I put a “gf” next to the food items they made gluten free for me.

  • Eats: Granola (gf), Spiced Banana Bread w/ Lemon Yogurt, Avocado Toast (gf, the boiled egg gribiche was to die for!), Spelt Hot Cakes (gf), Baked Eggs, Bubble & Squeak, Truffled Fries
  • Toddies: Almond Milk Latte, French Press Coffee

Melrose Trading Post: Of course we did some vintage shopping!

Life On Set

Here’s a quick look into life on set from this week’s shoot. Did you know we film between 6-8 videos in a day!?! It’s a long, fun, exhausting day and I love every minute of it! Live on the YouTube channel tomorrow is “How to Tie a Bow Tie.”  Leave a comment and let me know what tutorials you would like to see.

Sneak Peek…

I had the amazing opportunity to be a content contributor for a new YouTube network that is the works. Below is a sneak peek at the DIY entertaining tutorials that we shot. It was an exhausting day but had so much fun doing it. Likehearted YouTube Channel coming soon!

Lucky 13…

I have to say that it has taken me a full week to get acclimated to the new year. There is always some time needed to recover from the holidays and the New Year’s Eve party that I hosted. I have so much to look forward this year, like turning the big 3-0 (yes, I’m actually excited about this)! 13 has always been my dad’s lucky number, so I can’t wait to see what else this year has to offer.

My resolutions for 2013:

  1. Continue to build the Likehearted business
  2. Cook a new recipe at least twice a month – I have all these amazing cook books that I hardly open, mostly used just to make my kitchen look pretty. I cook every day and really enjoy it, but being a single girl who lives alone can definitely make you stick to only a handful of recipes.
  3. Digital Detox – It may be my job to be online all the time, but I need to remember there are other ways to fill my free time.
  4. Have more fun – I’m a workaholic, it’s in my blood, but I always need the reminder to balance and take a little time for myself.

Happy new year!

From the words of Mr. Carter (a.ka. Jay-Z)

“I think it’s every human’s job to inspire others, to feed one another’s senses. Inspiration begets inspiration times infinity. Imagine if the person that was inspired to create the phonograph didn’t share it with the world.” – Jay-Z (

On that note, my goal was to start blogging weekly, then it turned into monthly and then well life got in the way…But today I’m starting again with a goal to get back to a minium of once a week posts on the things that I love, inspire me and make me who I am today.

Veni, Vidi, Vici.

So it begins…

I made a resolution last year to start a blog…I came to WordPress signed up and then never returned until now. I went 13 months without doing a single post. Honestly, I just wasn’t inspired enough to write anything and like usual life got in the way – job sucking the life out of me and well, pretty much that’s all I did (I’ve been told I need to balance better, not work so much). I may only be 27 years old but I’ve been through a lot, especially in the last week, which has finally kicked me in the behind to start this blog. Bottom line, the last few years have taught me to only do what I love and surround myself with people who are like hearted.

So maybe this will end up being therapeutic, tell my experiences and help others who are going through the same thing. Or another creative outlet for me to share all the wonderful things I find and love. I’m always getting asked what am I wearing or how I made something, my lovely roommate calls me “Mini Martha” (as in Martha Stewart), you don’t even know how happy that makes me. But I’ll start this blog and see where it brings me. The hardest part has been just getting started….
